The municipal population of just over 11,000 has remained steady since the turn of the century and has an average age of just under 47 years according to the 2011 Canada census.
Harbour Street is known as the most historic in Kincardine. The old lighthouse and museum are located on it, as well as several unique dining options. A famous landmark on Harbour Street is the Walker House, the oldest building in Kincardine, which is now a museum.
Kincardine is known for its beautiful and clean beaches, including Tiny Tot beach, Station Beach, and Boiler Beach. Youth and adults love the two piers attached to the marina. When travelling south to Goderich through Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanoshthere is 18 km of shoreline down to Point Clark/Amberley and it’s another 35 km of lakeshorein to Goderich. While homes are not as plentiful along this stretch of shore, except for those in the communities of Point Clark & Port Albert, there is still a lot to choose from. There was an average sale price in 2015 of $292,322 for the 106 sold homes in this area and included in these are tremendous retirement options in new land lease developments.
