The average daytime high temperature for May through September is just under 22° C (72° F) with average precipitation while the winter months of December through March brings average daytime high temperatures of plus 1° C and total snowfall accumulations of just over 240 cm (95 in).

The municipal population of just over 11,000 has remained steady since the turn of the century and has an average age of just under 47 years according to the 2011 Canada census.

Harbour Street is known as the most historic in Kincardine. The old lighthouse and museum are located on it, as well as several unique dining options.  A famous landmark on Harbour Street is the Walker House, the oldest building in Kincardine, which is now a museum.

Kincardine is known for its beautiful and clean beaches, including Tiny Tot beach, Station Beach, and Boiler Beach. Youth and adults love the two piers attached to the marina. A great spot to watch the internationally famous sunsets is the South Pier, which is also a very popular “cliff-jump” style swimming location. When travelling south to Goderich through Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanoshthere is 18 km of shoreline down to Point Clark/Amberley and it’s another 35 km of lakeshorein to Goderich.  While homes are not as plentiful along this stretch of shore, except for those in the communities of Point Clark & Port Albert, there is still a lot to choose from.  There was an average sale price in 2015 of $292,322 for the 106 sold homes in this area and included in these are tremendous retirement options in new land lease developments.  Theseneighbourhoods and communities are all accessed from Provincial Highway 21.

When travelling north from Kincardine to Saugeen Shores there is about 35 km of lakeshore.  There were a total of 54 homes sold in this area in 2015 at an average sale price of $259,595.  The lowest value sale was for $63,000 while the highest sale price was $560,000.

There are many options for residential building lots in Kincardine as well as outside the urban area.  In town serviced lots are listed from $60,000 to $135,000 while out of town you can get un-serviced large lots for $55,000 and up to $300,000 for some of the lakefront properties.
